Consultants, LLC was founded
upon the belief that the “One-Stop Shopping” concept for
a real estate transaction is indeed a reality and is increasingly becoming
more popular. “One-Stop Shopping” is a concept whereby a
single company owns all, or is affiliated with, other real estate service
providers (like a real estate sales company owning a mortgage company).
This system, with the real estate agent as the focal point, is designed
to make the selling and buying experience less stressful, simpler and
easier for customers. Most “One-Stop Shopping” concept companies
are large corporations staffed with thousands of employees. But, not
only do their offices charge “broker service” or “conveyancing”fees
(we do not), they do not refund the efficiencies gained from
this concept to their customers (we do).
We have taken this one-stop shopping concept, one step
further, to make the entire real estate transaction even easier and
less expensive for you, our prospective customer, because one person
can accommodate both your real estate and mortgage needs. This unique
one person contact for both the real estate sales transaction
and the mortgage transaction means less hassle for you, less duplication
of effort, and direct access to the one person responsible for getting
you to settlement, with no surprises.

About the Owner
Laurence graduated from Dickinson College (Carlisle,
PA) with a B.A. in Economics. He also studied Economics at the University
of Southampton, England. He shortly thereafter entered the mortgage
business, working in the mortgage servicing department of Naples Federal
Savings & Loan (Naples, FL). This two year exposure in the back-end
of the business educated him about concepts that often aren’t
understood by most mortgage originators nor real estate agents: property
tax & hazard insurance escrow accounts, investor reporting, collection
activities, foreclosure law, and most importantly, the understanding
of the legal instruments (the actual mortgage and note) which all borrowers
must sign at closing.
After two years and a promotion to track and coordinate
the bank’s foreclosure activities, Laurence returned to southeastern
Pennsylvania to enter the front-end of the business. Laurence became
a loan officer with Sears Mortgage, one of the nation’s largest
mortgage bankers at the time. There, he learned how mortgages were originated,
but from a retail branch, mortgage banking point-of-view. At the time,
this retail lending concept (customer dealing directly with a bank)
was how mortgages were primarily originated. But the structure of this
system led him to believe that real customer service was unobtainable.
After all, the mortgage originators WORK for the lender, whose interest
are often times not the customer’s. After learning and working
within this system for two years, Laurence left to establish his own
firm, Professional Mortgage Consultants,
structured as a mortgage broker.

Laurence is proud that for 28 years of owning Professional
Mortgage Consultants, his referral
rate has been consistently very high. In 2018, 100% of the loans that
were closed were either previous customers or referred by previous customers.
